Exemption Will Allow ‘Jailbreaking’ of iPhones - NYTimes.com
simple put. I would not have used iphones from day 1 without jailbreaking allowing me to do what apple wouldn’t.
with my iPhone 2g that meant having apps when Apple would only allow web apps.
With my 3GS it means not paying tethering fees just to use the same internet i already pay for on my phone. It means being able to sync my phone via wifi instead of always connecting it to a usb cable. It means having quick access to turning my wifi on and off.
I’m glad to see the Library of Congress allow this exception to the deeply flawed DMCA.
