Daily Tech Tip - How to Avoid Taxes on iTunes Purchases

Let me start by saying I live in Mexico and don’t give a fuck about the legality of lying about your geographical location to iTunes. Yes it’s probably against the EULA when you sign up but I DO NOT CARE. Here’s something i do care about. Paying taxes for digital downloads, especially when I don’t live in the US but still use my US iTunes account (for the access to movies and tv shows).

I used to use my account with a credit card with a Texas billing and would end up paying 1.07 for every 99 cent app i bought. Now i buy Gift Cards. iTunes Gift Cards which i then use to load up my account. Since gift cards aren’t associated with any billing address I amĀ  free to change my address to a state that doesn’t tax digital goods. Like Fl. So that’s it. nice and simple, buy gift card, change address to FL, and save a few bucks in the long run.

enjoy.
