Daily Tech Tip - All Blu-Ray/HD is not created equal.

I made the same mistake with Blu-Ray that i did with DVD’s at first. I assumed that every DVD would take advantage of the format and give me a kick ass picture. That’s obviously not true, and the number of variables and the care necessary to get a great transfer to DVD and Blu-Ray is astounding and important thing to remember now that HD content is popping up all over the place.

Case in point i came across some amazing deals on Blu-Ray movies (Blu-Ray film are crazy cheap in mexico city at Mixup) out of 5 films that i grabbed and googled only 1 was worth the buy (Patton), the others (Predator, Predator 2, French Connection, Wallstreet) suffered from shitty transfers from bad masters. Sure they’re cheap but why bother buying them on blu-ray when i could probably make do with the DVD versions I already have.

this site is a great resource for anyone debating a blu-ray purchase.

So always Google before you buy.
