Daily Tech Tips - The Joy of Image Capture
Over the years I have managed to cram a beautiful clusterfuck of tech related knowledge into my brain. Enough, I thought, to share at least one tip, trick, cheat, or suggestion per day. So let’s begin.
I’ve mentioned Image Capture before but with snow leopard it bears repeating. This is one of the most overlooked parts of the Mac Os and one of the most versatile.
First and foremost: you can ditch the crap scanner software that came with your HP, Canon, Lexmark, All-In-One. Image Capture now takes over this duty and does so wonderfully with a full bevy of controls.
Second: You can use image capture with any automator work flow. By Default you can chose to build a web page or make a pdf from the photos you’re importing. For example. I like to take photos with my iphone in lieu of making list. So whether it’s a list of Movies i want to see, or an article in a magazine I can use image capture to spit out a PDF with all the pertitent images which is much neater than having a folder or album labeled “Books to Read”.
and Third: This is something i still haven’t found a use for but it’s there and if you find a use for it you’ll be glad it is. Image Capture can share the photos from your camera or iphone over a network to any mac running 10.6. Awesome i imagine both you and your significant other want to browse and download pics from last nights NYE party.
